I know this is an old post, but I stumbled on it while doing some research for a piece I'm working on, partly about Pale Fire. I saw John Singer Sargent and Nabokov in one post and I don't think I've ever clicked/subscribed so fast. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you so much Michaela, that's wonderful to hear! I'm gradually working my way through Nabokov's books, I never fail to be surprised by them. Pale Fire is one of the strangest books I've read, I'm still thinking about it all these months later.

Oh I believe it! Pale Fire is completely unforgettable because there's just nothing like it. Nabokov certainly has a way of sticking with you, for better or worse, haha.
